This is a close matchup between two near-.500 teams, but Hagen Smith's 1.29 ERA and 0.96 WHIP — even in a limited 28 IP sample — represents a significant pitching edge over Parker Messick, who is solid but not dominant at a 2.56 ERA. Chicago's lineup hits notably better against LHP (OPS .751 vs .716 vs RHP), giving them a real split advantage against Messick. The White Sox also show stronger recent offensive form (6.5 R/G in last 10 games vs Cleveland's 5.3 R/G) and carry a winning streak, while Cleveland's lineup is hampered by left-handed hitters facing a LHP. At near-even moneyline odds (-104), the White Sox carry slight positive line value relative to their edge.
