This game features a remarkably even pitching matchup on paper — both teams share an identical team ERA (3.61) and RA/G (4.12), while the two starters are similarly mediocre (Armstrong 4.58 ERA/1.39 WHIP vs. Peralta 4.42 ERA/1.33 WHIP). Peralta holds a modest edge in innings and strikeouts, but neither pitcher clears the 70 pitching threshold for a Strong Lean. The key differentiator is Cleveland's scorching recent form: an 8-2 L10 record and a blistering 5.3 R/G over their last 5 games (vs. 4.57 season average), compared to Tampa Bay's sluggish 3.8 R/G over their last 10. Tampa Bay's offense has cooled significantly despite the superior season OPS (.734), while Cleveland arrives hot and getting value at +130.
