Clay Holmes (ERA 3.25, WHIP 1.16) has been one of the more reliable starters of the second half and gives Chicago a clear pitching edge over Gamboa, who has only 31 IP at the MLB level. The Cubs lineup hits significantly better vs LHP (.262/.796 vs .247/.759 vs RHP), giving them a real split advantage against Gamboa. Boston's offense has been ice cold — just 2.2 R/G over their last 10 games — and their top hitters (Contreras, Abreu, Monasterio) are all flashing cold signs recently. The Cubs are small road favorites at -115 and represent fair value given the pitching gap.

This is a coin-flip matchup. Peterson (ERA 4.96, WHIP 1.51) is a significant liability on the mound, and the Cubs lineup hits worse vs RHP (.247/.759), which is what Boston will counter with in Bello (ERA 4.49, WHIP 1.37). Neither starter is a meaningful advantage, and Boston hits slightly better vs LHP (.249/.737). The Red Sox offense has been terrible recently (2.2 R/G in L10) but Bello at home at least matches Peterson. With both starters posting middling ERAs and WHIPs and both offenses struggling, this game lacks a clear edge.

The Yankees are the better team (92-67) with a superior offense (5.4 R/G L10) and excellent team ERA (3.12), and their lineup hits slightly better vs LHP (.244/.732). However, the home starter is TBD, which eliminates the ability to properly evaluate pitching — the single most weighted factor. Rogers (ERA 4.07, WHIP 1.18) is serviceable but Baltimore's offense is weak (.698 OPS, 3.4 R/G L10) and several hitters are cold. Despite New York's quality edge, the TBD starter makes this unplayable.

Brendan Beck has a catastrophic ERA of 8.22 over 7.2 IP, making him an extreme liability for New York on the mound. Young (ERA 3.62, WHIP 1.36) is the clearly superior starter and Baltimore's recent form has been solid (W3 streak, 6-4 L10). While Baltimore's offense is below average and Pete Alonso and CES are carrying a cold supporting cast, Beck's inability to eat innings or post quality starts against even a modest lineup is a major red flag. At +105, Baltimore offers real value as a play against one of the worst pitching matchups on the slate.

Both starters are in a similar ERA range (Chandler 4.34, Jobe 3.98) with comparable WHIPs, making the pitching matchup largely neutral. Pittsburgh has been in better recent form (7-3 L10, W1) vs Detroit (4-6 L10, L2) and their offense carries a slight edge (.741 OPS vs .733), but Detroit's lineup has been surging (4.3 R/G L10 vs 3.9 for Pittsburgh). Multiple hot hitters in Detroit's lineup (McGonigle, Torkelson, Clark) offset the Pirates' edge. With nearly identical moneyline (-110/-109), there's no value edge either. Pass.

Cristopher Sánchez is one of the best starters on the board today — ERA 2.93, WHIP 1.22, 221 K in 200.0 IP with an 18-6 record. He's a true ace-level arm. Tampa Bay's offense vs LHP is a significant concern: .249/.681 splits vs LHP compared to .262/.748 vs RHP, and their L10 offense has cratered to just 3.7 R/G with AVG .211/.585. Multiple Tampa regulars are cold (Caminero, Diaz, Hicks). Peralta (ERA 4.56, WHIP 1.33) is beatable and the Phillies, while not explosive offensively, have Schwarber, Harper, and a home park edge. The pitching matchup strongly favors Philadelphia.

The Mets' starter is TBD, eliminating the ability to evaluate the most heavily weighted factor. Alvarez (ERA 3.17, WHIP 1.26) is solid but the Mets hit worse vs LHP (.229/.678). Washington has been in good recent form (7-3 L10, W2) and scores runs (4.7 R/G L10). However, the Mets' TBD starter makes this a pass — a critical piece of the analysis is missing. Washington's pitcher ERA is decent and they have a slight home edge, but the -110/-109 price on both sides with unknowns makes this a hard pass.

Toronto's starter is TBD, preventing proper pitching evaluation. Lodolo's ERA 5.04 and WHIP 1.47 are poor, and Toronto hits worse vs LHP (.227/.652 vs .256/.708 vs RHP) — but without knowing who Toronto starts, the advantage could flip entirely. Both teams have been struggling offensively (Reds 3.1 R/G L10, Jays 3.6 R/G L10) and both are below .500. Cincinnati is a losing team with a bad rotation — the TBD Toronto starter just makes this unplayable despite the instinct to lean Toronto given the home advantage and Cincinnati's poor pitching.

Atlanta's starter is TBD, eliminating the ability to evaluate the most critical factor. The Braves are the better team (93-66) with superior overall metrics and their offense performs well vs RHP (.252/.736). Pérez (ERA 4.14, WHIP 1.27) is a middling option for Miami. Atlanta has multiple hot hitters (Dubon, Baldwin, Acuña) but also cold spots (Albies). The Braves would likely be the lean given team quality, but without a starting pitcher for Atlanta, this is a pass.

Gavin Williams is one of the best arms on the board today — ERA 3.63, WHIP 1.08, 244 K in 181.0 IP with a 14-8 record. That elite WHIP and strikeout total give Cleveland a dominant pitching edge. Kansas City's bullpen ERA (4.69) and team struggles (68-91, 2-8 L10) compound the disadvantage. Cleveland has been excellent recently (8-2 L10, 4.7 R/G L10) and while their splits vs LHP are slightly worse (.228/.666), the sheer quality gap between Williams and Cameron justifies the play. At -145, this is at the upper end of neutral value but Williams' performance warrants it.

Sean Burke (ERA 3.40, WHIP 1.20, 178 K in 167.0 IP) is a clear advantage over Sugano (ERA 5.36, WHIP 1.33). The White Sox have been rolling (6.5 R/G L10, 6-4) and their offense features multiple hot bats (Meidroth 🔥, Grichuk .395 L14 🔥). Colorado is on a 4-game losing streak, sitting at 57-102 with Sugano posting a bloated ERA. While Colorado's offense has actually been decent (4.4 R/G L10), their team ERA of 5.53 and the pitching gap make this a strong lean for Chicago. The -252 price is steep but the edge is real.

Milwaukee is the class of this matchup — 100-59, 7-3 L10, W2 streak — and their lineup vs RHP splits are excellent (.263/.757). They have genuine firepower (Bauers .884 OPS, Chourio .828, Turang .806 OPS with .375 L14 🔥, Ortiz .340 L14 🔥). Gasser (ERA 4.01) is not elite but McGreevy (ERA 3.84, WHIP 1.25) has a comparable number — however St. Louis' offense has completely collapsed to just 3.0 R/G in their last 10 games (AVG .198/.545). Multiple Cardinals are ice cold (Herrera, Burleson, Walker, Winn). The combination of Milwaukee's dominance, Cardinals' offensive collapse, and home advantage makes this a solid lean even at -192.

Jacob deGrom (ERA 3.86, WHIP 1.10, 196 K in 158.2 IP) is clearly the superior arm over Joe Ryan (ERA 3.83, WHIP 1.18), with deGrom's WHIP and strikeout rate being meaningfully better. Texas has been in solid form (6-4 L10, W1) and their offense has some hot bats (Foscue 🔥, Lopez 🔥). Minnesota has been mediocre (75-84, 5-5 L10) and their lineup has multiple cold spots (Kody Clemens, Royce Lewis, Ryan Jeffers all ❄️). Texas hits slightly worse vs RHP but deGrom's elite command gives the Rangers a quality pitching edge at -114, which is neutral-value pricing.

Hunter Brown (ERA 3.26, WHIP 1.27, 120 K in 102.0 IP) has a significant edge over Lopez (ERA 5.68, WHIP 1.53). Houston's offense features Yordan Alvarez having a monster season (.315/1.032 OPS, 41 HR) and is in good recent form (4.2 R/G L10). The Athletics are 63-96 with a team ERA of 5.40 and RA/G of 5.24 — one of the worst pitching staffs in baseball. While Houston's lineup has cold spots (Walker, Smith, Trammell), Alvarez alone is a game-changer. The -182 price is in 'slight negative value' territory but Brown vs Lopez is a decisive enough edge.

Arizona brings Brandon Pfaadt (ERA 3.72, WHIP 1.17) who is a quality arm against an unknown Padres starter. The Diamondbacks are on a 5-game winning streak and have been on fire offensively — 5.8 R/G over their last 10 games with a .294 AVG and .857 OPS. Multiple Arizona hitters are blazing hot (Perdomo, Arenado .423 L14 🔥, Moreno .364 L14 🔥, Vargas 🔥). San Diego is the better team season-long (89-70) with elite recent offense (6.0 R/G L10) but their TBD starter is a major unknown. At +114, Arizona offers positive value with a known quality arm and the best recent offensive form on the slate.

Detmers (ERA 3.47, WHIP 1.05, 204 K in 179.0 IP) is the better pitcher — his WHIP and strikeout rate are legitimately elite. However, the Angels are a 61-98 team with the worst offense on the slate (.678 OPS, 3.38 R/G) and they hit even worse vs RHP (.232/.672). Seattle hits notably worse vs LHP (.221/.652 vs .237/.709 vs RHP), giving Detmers a real edge. But at +100, the value exists for Angeles only if Detmers can hold down a struggling Mariners lineup. The Angels simply cannot generate enough runs to capitalize on Detmers' quality. The pitching edge favors the Angels but the offensive support is too thin — pass.

The Dodgers have an overwhelming edge on paper — Tarik Skubal (ERA 2.85, WHIP 0.99, 176 K in 151.2 IP) is arguably the best starter on the board, the Dodgers are 97-62 with a star-studded lineup featuring Ohtani, Freeman, Tucker, Betts, and Muncy. The Giants are 65-94 with a weak roster and Marte is a non-factor (ERA 4.66 in 19.1 IP). The Giants hit worse vs LHP (.235/.667) and have several cold hitters. The WPS of 88 reflects true dominance — however, the -337 price is in 'significant negative value' territory, requiring an overwhelming edge that even this matchup can't fully justify for a moneyline bet. The edge is real but the juice is far too steep.
