This is a remarkably close matchup between two elite pitchers, but Yamamoto holds a slight edge with a superior ERA (2.53 vs 2.16 is close, but his WHIP of 0.87 vs Sale's 0.98 is meaningful) and the Dodgers' lineup, though cold in spots, is significantly deeper. The Braves' offense has cooled considerably in the L10 (4 R/G, OPS .668 in L5 games) and key hitters like Albies and Riley are struggling badly — Albies hitting .137 over L14 is a red flag. The Dodgers counter with a 100-win team on a W3 streak and a blazing L5 run-scoring pace (5 R/G). The Dodgers' left-heavy lineup does face a modest platoon disadvantage against Sale (LHP), as their splits drop to .251/.756 vs LHP, but the lineup depth mitigates this. At near-even money, the Dodgers' superior record, pitching edge via WHIP, and deeper roster tip the lean.

The Padres are the line favorite but the underlying data favors Milwaukee at a value price of +114. Dustin May's ERA (4.70) and WHIP (1.32) are concerning, but the Brewers are the better team by record (103-59 vs 91-71) and come in on a W5 streak with a 8-2 L10. The Padres counter with Nick Pivetta, who has a strong ERA (2.86) and WHIP (1.01), but his sample size is very small at just 34.2 IP — significant uncertainty in that number. The Padres offense is legitimate with a scorching L5 (6.3 R/G, OPS .812), and multiple hitters are hot (Tatis, Merrill, Bogaerts, Cronenworth L14). Milwaukee's lineup is solid against RHP (.264/.759) with Turang, Bauers, Chourio, and Ortiz all showing well recently. Ultimately, Pivetta's small sample creates too much noise to confidently back the Padres at -138, and Milwaukee's superior record and value price make this a lean to Milwaukee, though it's not a strong play given May's poor numbers.
