The pitching matchup is the decisive factor here. Nick Martinez has been excellent in 2026 (3.10 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, 15-6 in 180 IP), representing a clear and significant advantage over Shawn Armstrong, who has posted a 4.58 ERA and 1.39 WHIP in just 35.1 innings — a very thin workload for a playoff-context start. Tampa Bay's offense ranks higher in OPS (.734 vs .701) and R/G (4.93 vs 4.57), and while the Rays' L5 offense has cooled considerably (3.8 R/G, .629 OPS), Cleveland's hot recent form (8-2 L10, 5.3 R/G in last 10 games) keeps this from being a dominant edge. At -112, the Rays represent near-neutral value, making this a lean rather than a strong play.
